U.K. Family’s Missing Beagle Mix Returns Home with Third Place Ribbon from Dog Show .
A kind-hearted stranger discovered Bonnie not long after she made a break for it through an open gate. The person then brought Bonnie to a dog show where their own furry friends were participating.
The Closier family was shocked when their dog escaped, only to return later with a surprise rosette from a dog show. The couple, Peter and Paula, were filled with anxiety when their beloved five-year-old beagle mix, Bonnie, disappeared through an open gate one Sunday morning in West Sussex, England. Exhaustively searching their home and neighborhood, with the help of their daughters and neighbors, Paula made desperate calls to authorities, vets, and animal shelters in a frantic effort to locate Bonnie. Coincidentally, shortly after Bonnie’s escape, John Wilmer came across her on the side of the road while driving his dogs to a dog show in Surrey.
Running behind schedule for the event, Wilmer discovered a stray dog and took her along to the show with his own dogs. After sharing a photo of the dog, named Bonnie, on social media in hopes of finding her owner, Paula saw the post and reached out.
Once Wilmer and the Closiers connected and organized a reunion with Bonnie, he decided to enter her into the dog show he was attending. Registering Bonnie for the Best Rescue Dog competition, she ended up taking third place.
“Bonnie was so happy when she returned. She just enjoyed her day out,” Peter shared with SWNS.
“When she went missing, I had various scenarios in mind, with the best one being her safe return,” the dog owner explained. “But this exceeded my expectations; she came back with a prize ribbon.”
