The images displayed below feature Border Collies named Sam and Billie, the latter of which has a distinct blue eye. However, before we delve into their story, let’s rewind the clock by about a decade. Sammy, an adorable and fluffy six-month-old Border Collie puppy, used to roam around his family’s front yard and was cherished by Nikki and Simon, as well as all of their neighbors. Unfortunately, one day something happened, and Sam vanished from the front yard without a trace, and no one saw anything. Following this, the family decided to welcome Billie, another Border Collie, into their home after his original owners could no longer care for him. Time passed, and seven years later, the family received a phone call from WISH Animal Rescue informing them that Sam had been located at Foothills Animal Hospital. Despite the neglect he suffered at the hands of humans, Sam exuded a gentle wisdom that shone through during his photo shoot with us at the Perth dog beach. As soon as we stepped out of the car, he eagerly trotted over to us with his bum and tail wagging, asking for a pat. He is now ten years old, while Billie is nine. Although Sam is deaf and unsteady on his feet due to his age and what he’s been through, he remains utterly charming in every way possible. Sam’s story is a testament to the importance of microchipping your beloved pets.
Seven years later, the owners were thrilled to receive a call from WISH Animal Rescue informing them that their beloved pooch, Sam, was currently being taken care of at Foothills Animal Hospital.
The dog had various injuries all over its body, and its eyes lacked any signs of liveliness or happiness.
At the age of 10, Sam is facing some challenges as he is deaf and struggles with balance, which can make him appear older than his actual age. However, despite these obstacles, he exudes a delightful charm that captivates everyone he meets.
It’s impossible to say with certainty where Sam spent those 7 years and what occurred during that period.
Thanks to the efforts of WISH Animal Rescue and Foothills Animal Hospital, this furry friend’s life was spared, enabling his original family to focus on healing his emotional wounds.
Sam enjoys hanging out with Billie, a fellow Border Collie who joined the family after Sam went missing.
The tale of Sam serves as a reminder to all pet owners about the significance of microchipping their furry companions.
I snapped some shots of Sam and Billie, with my camera as their witness. My name is Kelly Pilgrim-Byrne, and I am part of the 7 to 1 Photography team.
