Rescued Sloth Becomes Best Friends With a Beagle.
When a lost sloth found itself entangled in electrical wires, Haydee Rodríguez and her husband Juan Carlos sprang into action to rescue the animal. They brought the sloth, now named Chuwie El Galan, into their care as he recovered from burns on his hand, claws, and legs. As Chuwie recuperated, he found an unexpected friend in a friendly beagle named Seven. Despite Chuwie’s initial hesitation, Seven persisted in befriending him, and now the two have formed a strong bond.
The heartwarming story of how a beagle gradually won over a rescued sloth by mimicking his behavior culminated in a touching moment when the sloth finally snuggled up to his canine companion.
Inspired by Chuwie’s journey, Rodríguez and Carlos established the Chuwie Foundation: Sloth Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Venezuela, with Chuwie serving as their furry ambassador. Although Chuwie cannot be released back into the wild due to his injuries, he plays a vital role in welcoming other sloths (and beagles) that find their way to their home.
