The orangutan is shown holding on the tree as it slowly topples to the ground in the clip, which was recorded in 2013 but has only just been made public. It then begins to make its way down the trunk.
The horrified ape stretches out and temporarily grips onto the evil machine, causing it to draw away while two members of IAR’s Orangutan Protection Unit attempt to dart and take the animal to safety.
As loggers smash the base of a tree in the Ketapang District, West Borneo, heart-breaking video shows one of the great apes perched in the tree’s canopy as it falls to the floor.
