During Halloween night, a helpless puppy was cruelly thrown out of a moving vehicle and abandoned to his fate. Fortunately, two compassionate women noticed the distressed dog, wrapped him in a blanket, and brought him to the Albany Police Station. Animal control was called but unfortunately, they weren’t able to help the injured canine and suggested that he be put down. However, Officer Jon-David Hill couldn’t bear to let this happen and decided to take matters into his own hands. “I didn’t think it was fair,” Hill shared with Inside Edition. “I didn’t want his life to be filled with pain and suffering. I knew that I was the right person to help him at that moment.” Officer Hill took the puppy under his wing, gave him the name Jack, and brought him to a 24-hour animal hospital. The veterinarians confirmed that Jack had an old injury and advised amputating one of his legs as the best course of action. Despite the loss of one limb, Jack proved to be an affectionate, happy, and playful pup. “He’s now able to jump on the couch, play ball, and move around really well,” Hill happily reported. “Although he’s initially nervous around people, once he smells you, he just can’t stop licking you.”
As they were walking, two ladies stumbled upon a distressed dog who was weeping uncontrollably. Without hesitation, they decided to transport the little pup to the Albany Police Station.
According to the animal control, there was no action that could be taken and the only solution was to euthanize him.
Officer Hill made a compassionate decision to take the young boy under his wing and become his adoptive parent. He didn’t want the child to endure a life of agony and misery, or even worse, to pass away prematurely.
Despite losing one of its legs, the furry canine has found a caring family to call its own!
